A production method for a reinforced glass substrate having a curved surface section comprising a recessed surface and a protruding surface on the reverse side to the recessed surface. The reinforced glass substrate production method is characterized by comprising: a coating item formation step in which an item for coating is formed on some of the surface of a planar, non-reinforced glass substrate and a coating item formation surface is obtained; and an ion exchange and deformation step in which the non-reinforced glass substrate having the coating item formation surface undergoes ion exchange treatment, the coating item formation surface is deformed, and a reinforced glass substrate having a curved surface is obtained.
