摘要 In the present invention, proposed is a separation method for a leaching residue from which can be obtained a hematite-containing substance that can be used as an iron manufacturing-use starting material, and provided is a production method for generating an iron manufacturing-use hematite from the leaching residue. The iron manufacturing-use hematite production method uses as a starting material a leaching residue obtained from a hydrometallurgy plant for nickel oxidation ore that uses a high pressure acid leach method. The iron manufacturing-use hematite production method is characterized by producing hematite cake by sequentially carrying out at least the following three steps: a step for separating the leaching residue into an overflow and an underflow using a wet cyclone, on the condition that the classification size is set so that the overflow is at least a setting of no more than 1µm but no more than a setting of no more than 2µm; a step for physically separating the overflow into magnetically strong matter and weak matter using a strong magnetic field magnetic separation device on the condition that the magnetic field strength is 5-20 [KGauss]; and a dehydration step that uses a superheated steam drying method to adjust the separated magnetically strong matter so that the water content thereof is 10-17%.
