<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a spray piston ring at low cost so as to form a spray film of uniform thickness on the entire outer peripheral sliding surface thereof and without causing the crossing of spraying and without forming a groove in the outer periphery of the piston ring. <P>SOLUTION: A chamfered part 4 is formed at at least the outer peripheral one end of a piston ring body having the spray film formed of a metal, ceramics, or the composite thereof on the outer peripheral surface of the piston ring body. The spray film 3 is sprayed by a thickness equal to or less than the depth of the chamfered part 4 from a vertical direction to the axis of a piston ring.
