<p>A variable intake passage (16) is made of a tubular space that is formed with a fixed member (20) and a movable member (30) arranged to face the fixed member (20) and having a relative position with the fixed member (20) changed. The movable member (30) is moved to increase or decrease a distance of an air introducing portion (32) from the combustion chamber (6) to thereby change a passage length (L). The variable intake passage (16) has a cross section that gradually increases from an upstream side to a downstream side in the air introducing direction. When the passage length (L) of the variable intake passage (16) is changed, the cross section of the air introducing portion (32) of the variable intake passage (16) is changed correspondingly.</p> |
