<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber-treating agent for producing a spun yarn which can be used for producing staple fibers, the staple fibers having good card-passing property, and generating little wrapping on a roller and little fallen scum in spinning processes such as carding, drawing, roving and fine spinning under a high temperature and high humidity condition, and which has a pH range from weakly acidic to weakly alkaline, to provide a method for producing synthetic fibers using the fiber-treating agent, and to provide a method for producing a spun yarn using the synthetic fibers. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a fiber treatment agent for producing a spun yarn including, as essential components, component A comprising a polyvinyl alcohol and/or a derivative thereof, and component B comprising a potassium alkyl phosphate and/or a potassium polyoxyalkylene alkyl phosphate having a 6 to 8C alkyl group.
