PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a papermaking press felt that can be easily engaged in a papermaking machine in a short time, needs a short initial warming-up period to reach the highest papermaking speed and whose felt life is long. SOLUTION: Provided is a papermaking press felt in which batt fiber layers 6 and 7 are disposed on both surfaces, a wet paper carrying side and a press roll side, of a reinforcing fiber substrate 5; at least one of the batt fiber layers includes a fused fiber; and, in the batt fiber layer in the felt at the wet paper carrying side of the felt, an elastic polymer 8 that has high deformability to pressures and is excellent in recovery after pressed is entwined with, dispersed and adhered to the butt layer in the felt. The elastic polymer has a 100% modulus value of 1-100 kg/cm<SP POS="POST">2</SP>and a residual strain of 30% or less after an elongation of 100%, when formed into a film and then measured under an environment of a room temperature of 20°C and a relative humidity of 65%.
