In the disclosed fuel cell, an electrode structure body (15) held by frames (13, 14) comprises a solid electrolyte membrane (16) and electrode catalyst layers (17, 18). A first and a second gas-duct-forming body (21, 22) are respectively joined to the surface of the electrode catalyst layers (17, 18). Separators (23, 24) are respectively joined to each surface of the first and the second gas-duct-forming bodies (21, 22). A high-pressure loss duct (TH) is formed at the upstream section of the fuel-gas duct (T) of the first gas-duct-forming body (21), and low-pressure loss ducts (TL) are formed at the midstream and downstream sections. Low-pressure loss ducts (FL) are formed at the upstream and midstream sections of the oxidizing gas duct (F) of the second gas-duct-forming body (22), and a high-pressure loss duct (FH) is formed at the downstream section. By means of increasing the difference between the pressure of the oxidizing gas and the pressure of the fuel gas, water arising within the oxidizing gas duct (F) is appropriately transferred to the fuel-gas duct (T). The solid electrolyte membrane (16) becomes moistened, and the transfer of electrons from the cathode to the anode during electricity generation occurs appropriately. |
