There is provided a method of producing an abrasion resistant cutting edge (12A,12B) of a filament trimming device (10). Said method comprises applying two layers of coatings using laser cladding, wherein the first layer (14) can be formed by powder-metallurgical steel and the second layer (16) may comprise carbide particles in a metal matrix. Further, a trimming device is disclosed having such an abrasion resistant cutting edge.
