A circularly polarised (CP) dipole antenna arrangement comprises a spiral type inductive load and means to split the current path on each dipole member 10, 11. The antenna arrangement may be a low profile, compact antenna which can operate in a single frequency band or dual or multiple frequency bands and provide left and right handed circularly polarised signals with a broad beam width. The antenna may be formed by two layers of conductive material separated by a dielectric substrate. The conductive layers may use wire of planar conductive structures. The feed to the antenna may use vacant-quarter printed ring formation. The spiral type inductive load may comprise both clockwise and anticlockwise rectangular spiral lines forming a unit cell which may be used to tune the resonant frequencies of the antennas. The current splitting means may include slot formations within the dipole members. |
