PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately set a direction of a display unit 12 which emits image light toward an eye (observation eye) 320 of an observer, of a head-mounted display (HMD) relative to a sight direction at the time of observer's looking straight ahead (a sight direction SL at the time of front observation). SOLUTION: A unit front observation line RL extending in a front-to-back direction of a display unit 12 relative to the display unit is set to the display unit 12. The display unit is held for the observation eye 320 at a position where, in side view, the unit front observation line RL is inclined downward relative to a sight direction SL at the time of front observation as a forward distance from the observation eye increases. Furthermore, the position of the display unit is adjusted in a position adjustment direction selected so that, in side view, the position adjustment direction is inclined backward relative to a direction of a vertical line VL passing the front of the observation eye as a downward distance from the observation eye increases.
