The invention provides a paper processing apparatus which can conduct stable paper conveying under the situation that the space for a switching gate yielding is ensured in a branch part. The paper processing apparatus (200) comprises a conveying path for conveying papers, a branch part (500) of the conveying path, a switching gate (504) which switches the conveying path in the branch part (500) and a movable conveying guide rail (509) opposite to the switch gate (504), forming a conveying face (701) of the conveying path.
