A method and apparatus are disclosed for monitoring a radio link on a small cell in a wireless communication system. The method includes the UE receives a RRC message for configuring a second cell to the UE (505). The method also includes the UE transmits a complete message in response to the RRC message for configuring the second cell (510). The method further includes the UE monitors a radio link with the second cell and reports a radio link failure to the first eNB when the radio link failure is detected on the second cell, if the second cell is controlled by a second eNB (515). In one preferred embodiment, the method includes (i) the UE stops uplink transmission(s) to the second cell after detection of the radio link failure, and/or (ii) the UE deactivates the second cell after detection of the radio link failure (520). |
