An ignition method using a smart key is provided to prevent a burglar from making an intrusion by allowing an engine ECU to request a smart-key module to send immobilizer data in a time point when an ignition-off state is changed into an ignition-on state as well as an ACC state and when a start motor is driven. An ignition method using a smart key comprises the step of allowing an engine ECU(Electronic Control Unit) to request a smart-key module to send immobilizer data in an ACC state or in a time point in which power states is changed from an ignition-off state to an ignition-on state(S404). The smart-key module determines whether an authentication of a personal fob is ensured and responds to the engine ECU(S406). If the engine ECU receives a positive respond, the ignition-on state is maintained and a rotation of a start motor is monitored(S408,S410,S412). If the engine ECU detects the rotation of the start motor, the immobilizer data is again requested(S414). The smart-key module determines whether an authentication of a personal fob is ensured and again responds to the engine ECU(S416). If the engine ECU again receives a positive respond, an ignition-on state is maintained(S418,S420). If the engine ECU receives an initial negative respond or a secondary negative respond, the starting is cut-off(S432,S434).
