A dust collector for a vacuum cleaner is provided to maximize the collecting capacity of a first dust container and clean a second dust container easily by installing the second dust container inside the first dust container. A dust collector for a vacuum cleaner comprises a first cyclone unit(200) separating dust by a cyclone principle, a second cyclone unit(300), a first dust container(111), and a second dust container(112). The second cyclone unit placed along the periphery of the first cyclone unit separates the dust included in the air ventilated from the first cyclone unit by the cyclone principle. The first dust container stores the dust separated from the first cyclone unit. The second dust container installed inside the first dust container stores the dust separated from the second cyclone unit. The first cyclone unit consists of a first cyclone container, and a first dust discharging port. The first cyclone container, whose sectional area of a lower end is smaller than the sectional area of an upper end, has a spiral flow along the inner periphery. The first dust discharging port formed at the first cyclone container discharges the dust to the first dust container.
