The present invention relates to a method for preparing meso-2,3-butanediol using an industrial carbon source. The present invention provides a method for preparing meso-2,3-butanediol using transformed Escherichia coli, wherein the method comprises: (a) preparing a recombinant vector by inserting a nucleotide sequence coding acetolactate decarboxylase of Klebsiella sp. and a nucleotide sequence coding alcohol dehydrogenase thereof; (b) introducing the recombinant vector into Escherichia coli to prepare transformed Escherichia coli; (c) culturing the transformed Escherichia coli in a culture medium to prepare meso-2,3-butanediol; and (d) obtaining the meso-2,3-butanediol. According to the present invention, the transformed Escherichia coli is cultured in a culture medium containing an industrial carbon source, thereby producing meso-2,3-butanediol more economically. |
