The present invention provides: a hydrogen purification device with which hydrogen from a mixed fluid containing gaseous hydrogen, gaseous oxygen and liquid water can be purified; and a method for using the hydrogen purification device. This hydrogen purification device comprises: a mixed fluid flow passage in which a mixed fluid containing gaseous hydrogen, gaseous oxygen and liquid water circulates; a first gas flow passage, which is adjacent to the mixed fluid flow passage, and in which a mixed gas containing gaseous hydrogen and gaseous oxygen circulates; a second gas flow passage, which is adjacent to the first gas flow passage, and in which gaseous hydrogen or oxygen circulates; a gas-liquid separation membrane, which constitutes at least part of the wall surface between the mixed fluid flow passage and the first gas flow passage, and separates mixed gas from the mixed fluid in the mixed fluid flow passage, and provides the mixed gas to the first gas flow passage; and a hydrogen or oxygen separation membrane, which constitutes at least part of the wall surface between the first gas flow passage and the second gas flow passage, and separates the gaseous hydrogen or oxygen from the mixed gas in the first gas flow passage, and provides the gaseous hydrogen or oxygen to the second gas flow passage. |
