PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating device and a coating method, capable of decreasing unevenness in coating by uniformly distributing a coating liquid and blocking or dividing bubbles mixed therein.SOLUTION: The coating device 1 for applying a coating liquid onto web-like metal foil using a coating roller 2 and a fountain nozzle 3, is characterized in that the fountain nozzle 3 includes two pieces of support members 32A, 32B divided by a coating liquid feed path 33 formed below the coating roller 2 in the axial direction thereof, a pair of dams 31A, 31B each formed on the upper faces of the support members 32A, 32B respectively for forming a bead on the coating roller 2, and a pedestal 4 which is disposed on the outlet 331 of the coating liquid feed path 33 toward the dams 31A, 31B, comprises a plurality of through holes 41 formed at regular intervals in the axial direction of the coating roller 2, and contacts the lower end of the coating roller 2. |
