PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for changing the flower color of a flowering plant. SOLUTION: Th method for changing the flower color of flowering plant includes inserting a retrotransposon, which contains a base sequence having a sequence number of 4 or a base sequence having an identity of 60% or more with those sequences or hybridizing with those sequences under stringent conditions, to exon parts of either one or both of multiple alleles H<SP POS="POST">Z</SP>or H<SP POS="POST">D</SP>of the flowering plant, provided that multiple alleles H<SP POS="POST">D</SP>or H<SP POS="POST">Z</SP>controls the hydroxylation of 3',5' title as for the hydroxylation of a B ring in a precursor of flavonoid biosynthesis and is a gene related to the biosynthesis of delphinidin (Dpn).
