PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photosensitive lithographic printing plate material which is excellent in plate wear resistance, stain preventing properties and processing running stability, as well as a substrate which gives it, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof.

SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the aluminum substrate for the lithographic printing plate material has the process of treating an aluminum plate with a water solution containing polyvinyl phosphonic acid after the plate is subjected to surface-roughening and anodizing processings, the process of washing by water and the drying process. The drying process has steps for drying with different temperatures.
