<p>The present invention relates to a histogram equalization device using a visual threshold. The objective of the present invention is to provide a device that calculates a threshold for a histogram of an input image based on Weber′s law which is the result of research on a bright difference by which people can distinguish an object from a background and performs equalization through the histogram modified according to the threshold. To achieve the objective of the present invention, the histogram equalization device comprises: a histogram calculation unit to calculate a histogram and a cumulative distribution function of an input image; a threshold calculation unit to calculate a visual threshold by generating a histogram equalization map using the cumulative distribution function calculated by the histogram calculation unit; a histogram modification unit to generate a cut histogram from which input histogram components greater than the visual threshold calculated by the threshold calculation unit are removed, generate a modified histogram by equally redistributing the removed histogram components to all brightness levels of the cut histogram, and calculate a cumulative distribution function of the modified histogram; and a histogram equalization unit to perform histogram equalization by generating a modified histogram equalization map.</p> |
