PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting composition having high luminance and a long lifetime and an organic electroluminescent element. SOLUTION: The light-emitting composition includes at least a light-emitting dopant and a host material, and at least part of the hydrogen atoms of CH bonds present in the host material is substituted with a deuterium atom. The organic electroluminescent element has at least a substrate (1), an anode (2) and a cathode (8) on the substrate (1), and a light-emitting layer (5) comprising the light-emitting composition in between the both electrodes.
