<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing image failures caused by a difference in the displacement amount of a distance (developing distance) between an image carrier and a developer carrier, and to provide a cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus M includes: the image carrier 1 having a surface on which an electrostatic image is formed; a developing device 4 including the developer carrier 8 disposed at a distance from the image carrier 1, to carry the developer on the surface thereof and convey the developer, and configured to develop the electrostatic image formed on the surface of the image carrier 1 by the developer conveyed while being carried on the surface of the developer carrier 8; and a bias applying means 16 for applying a developing bias to the developer carrier 8. The image forming apparatus M also includes an information recording means 14 wherein information on the displacement amount of the distance between the surface of the image carrier 1 and the surface of the developer carrier 8 is recorded; an information reading means 15 for reading the information on the displacement amount of the distance from the information recording means 14; and a control means 13 for changing the bias based on the information on the displacement amount of the distance read by the information reading means 15. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
