<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a dynamic range adjustment processing for more appropriately reproducing the modulation of the entire image and details. <P>SOLUTION: A dynamic range adjustment image data generation part 17 decides whether a pixel value is to be adjusted in the direction of compressing the dynamic range of input images or the pixel value is to be adjusted in the direction of enlarging it on the basis of a dynamic range adjustment condition when generating adjustment image data indicating the adjustment amount of the dynamic range to respective pixels in the input images for each pixel, and on the basis of the decided result, generates the adjustment image data with the images in which the ratio of low frequency components is high as input in the case of adjustment in the direction of compressing the dynamic range, and generates the adjustment image data on the basis of the images in which the ratio of the low frequency components is low in the case of the adjustment in the direction of enlarging the dynamic range.
