<p>Provided are: a multiple-structure liquid crystal optical element which can be produced at an excellent mass productivity, ensures a satisfactory optical distance, and can have an improved response rate; and a process for producing the multiple-structure liquid crystal optical element. The multiple-structure liquid crystal optical element comprises multiple liquid crystal elements laminated on each other, wherein each of the multiple liquid crystal elements comprises a substrate having a segment electrode formed on the inner surface thereof, a substrate having a common electrode formed on the inner surface thereof, and a liquid crystal filled between the substrates, and wherein the substrate having the segment electrode formed thereon and the substrate having the common electrode formed thereon are processed so as to have a predetermined small thickness in such a state that the liquid crystal is filled between the substrate.</p> |
