An external light shielding sheet, a manufacturing method thereof, and a display device using the same are provided to perform a black image and to improve contrast by positioning an external light shielding sheet on a display panel. A laser is irradiated in one side of a transparent sheet(600). A plurality of grooves is formed in one side of the transparent sheet by etching with the laser. A resin(620) for absorbing a light is charged in a plurality of grooves. A plurality of pattern parts is formed by filling the resin in a plurality of grooves. The transparent sheet is made of transparent resin including PET(Polyethylene Terephtalate), PMMA(Polymethly Methacrylate) or TAC(Tri-Acetyl-Cellulose). The resin is paste state or slurry state, and is mixed with a light absorbing particle like carbon, a solvent, or a binder. A refractive index of the pattern part is 0.3 times~1 times of a refractive index of a base part. A refractive index of the light absorbing resin is 0.3 times~1 times of a refractive index of the transparent sheet. |
