A buckle pretensioner for seat belt and a control method thereof are provided to minimize the injury of passenger in a crash and reduce noise by using a pneumatic muscle actuator pulling a seat belt. A buckle pretensioner for seat belt comprises a sensor(10) sensing the risk of collision, an air compressor(12) supplying the compressed air according to the signal of the sensor, a pneumatic muscle actuator(20) which is contracted by the compressed air provided from the air compressor, and a wire(8) connecting the pneumatic muscle actuator and a seat belt in order to pull the seat belt when the pneumatic muscle actuator is contracted.
