PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sample introduction apparatus with a passage constitution capable of recapturing a sample and achieving sufficient purging so that a sample component does not remain in the passage. SOLUTION: In a trap collection step, a six-direction switching valve 2 is connected between ports (a) and f, between ports b and c and between ports d and e, a six-direction switching valve 4 is connected between ports (a) and b, between ports c and d and between ports e and f and an electromagnetic valve 30 is opened. Consequently, carrier gas is introduced from a carrier gas passage 26 and exhausted successively through the six-direction switching valve 2, a sample passage 32, the six-direction switching valve 4, a trap passage 34, the six-direction switching valve 4, a passage 33, the six-direction switching valve 2, and an exhaust passage 36. The carrier gas is introduced also from a route through an electronic control flow controller 14 and stabilizing operation of an analysis passage 46 is continuously performed.
