A data receiving and transmission system for a premises comprises: a receiving location apparatus including at least one Low Noise Block (LNB), receiving satellite data; at least one processing apparatus provided at the premises to receive and process data from the receiving location apparatus to generate a user requested service from a plurality of available services; and wireless transmission means including a receiver, transmitter or transceiver associated with both the processing apparatus and the apparatus at the receiving location. Thus, a data receiving and transmission system for a premises (e.g. local area, household-based or similar) is provided wherein there is wireless transmission between a satellite (e.g. LNB-based) receiver apparatus 2 and a client 6, 6 (e.g. set-top box (STB), computer, laptop, tablet, mobile device, etc) apparatus, allowing user (client-based) selection of and tuning to requested (satellite broadcast) data / content. Alternatively, both satellite and fibre optic and/or telecommunication transmission systems provide data to the receiver, and a processing device may have a cable or wireless connection. Data can be provided to processing apparatus 6 operated internally and/or externally of the premises, with externally accessed services being limited / dependent on user status. DiSEqC wireless signaling may be used, over 802.11n at 5.2GHz. |
