The present invention comprises: a centrifugal compressor where a variable diffuser is installed; a step motor connected to the variable diffuser to operate the variable diffuser; a step motor drive controlling the step motor; a display; and a micom controlling the step motor drive, detecting a defect of the step motor caused by a feedback voltage through a feedback signal line of the step motor drive, and outputting a defect message of the step motor to the display when the step motor malfunctions. Therefore, the present invention can detect the defect of the step motor or the step motor drive and has high reliability.
