摘要 The technical features of this document provide a method and wireless apparatus for controlling a number of timers associated with ISR function. The method is applicable to a user equipment moving between different networks, i.e., different radio access networks such as 2G/3G and LTE. The method is associated with a deactivate timer which can be initiated following a periodic tracking area updating timer. The method comprises starting the deactivate ISR timer when the periodic tracking area updating timer expires and the mobility management back-off timer is running while the UE is in the coverage of LTE.

A method of controlling timers associated with an idle mode signaling reduction (ISR) function in a wireless communication system including a first type network communicating based on a number of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols, a second type network which is different from the first type network, and a user equipment (UE) which is communicating with at least one of the first type network and the second type network, the method performed by the UE which is capable of moving between a coverage of the first type network and a coverage of the second type network and comprising: receiving a UE location registration accept message indicating that the ISR function is enabled; starting a periodic tracking area update (P-TAU) timer, which is used to periodically notify availability of the UE, when the UE location registration accept message is received; receiving a control message including a mobility management backoff (MM-BO) time value; starting a mobility management backoff (MM-BO) timer based on the MM-BO time value; determining whether the P-TAU timer expires and the MM-BO timer is running to determine whether to start a deactivate ISR timer; and if the P-TAU timer expires and the MM-BO timer is running, starting the deactivate ISR timer corresponding to the first type of network while the UE is in the coverage of the first type network.
