The present invention relates to a polarizer and a manufacturing method thereof. More specifically, the polarizer manufacturing method includes the steps of swell, dying, and cross-linking a polyvinyl alcohol-based film. The cross-linking step includes an aqueous cross-linking solution containing aliphatic or alicyclic compounds having four or more aldehyde groups to significantly enhance the heat and moisture resistance while maintaining the polarization properties and dimensional stability equivalent to or higher than that of an existing polarizer.
