1. A benzindocyanine compound represented by Chemical Formula 1 or a salt thereof: wherein each of the four R1's, which are identical or different, is independently hydrogen, a sulfonic acid group or a sulfonate group; each of the two R2's, which are identical or different, is independently hydrogen or a C1-C6 alkyl group; each of the two R3's, which are identical or different, is independently hydrogen or a C1-C6 alkyl group; the R4 is hydrogen, a C1-C6 alkyl group, a carboxyl group, a sulfonic acid group, a sulfonate group, —CONH(CH2)L1SO2CH═CH2, —CONH-p-(C6H4)SO2CH═CH2 or —CONH-m-(C6H4)SO2CH═CH2, wherein L1 is an integer from 1 to 5; the B is (CH2)L2, p-(C6H4) or m-(C6H4), wherein L2 is an integer from 1 to 5; the n is an integer from 1 to 5; and each of the two m's, which are identical or different, is independently an integer from 1 to 10. |
