A method comprising: generating a display that includes a listing; identifying an advertisement associated with the listing; while a user is presented with the listing, transmitting substantially simultaneously, a first version of the advertisement and a second version of the advertisement; receiving a user selection of the listing; measuring a length of time between the start of the transmitting and the receipt of the user selection; and selecting, for presentation, either the first version of the advertisement or the second version of the advertisement based on the measured length of time.
