A light absorption anisotropic film formed from dichroic dye composition containing, based on total solids and excluding a solvent, 20 mass % or more of at least one azo dye, wherein the light absorption anisotropic film shows a diffraction peak derived from a periodic structure in a direction in a plane of the light absorption anisotropic film in X-ray diffraction measurement and the diffraction peak has a half width of 1.0 Å or less, wherein the at least one azo dye is represented by formula (Ib) or (Ic): wherein R10 and R11 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, or an ethyl group; L1b represents —N═N— or —C(═O)O—; L2b represents —CH═N—, —N═CH—, —C(═O)O—, or —OC(═O)—; A1b represents a group represented by formula (IIa) or (IIIa); and m1 and n1 each independently represents an integer of 0 to 2; wherein R9 represents an alkyl group which may have a substituent, an aryl group which may have a substituent, an alkoxy group which may have a substituent, an oxycarbonyl group which may have a substituent, or an acyloxy group which may have a substituent; wherein R12 and R13 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, or an ethyl group; and A1c represents a group represented by formula (IIa) or (IIIa); and wherein R9 represents an alkyl group which may have a substituent, an aryl group which may have a substituent, an alkoxy group which may have a substituent, an oxycarbonyl group which may have a substituent, or an acyloxy group which may have a substituent.
