Disclosed are an X-ray photographing apparatus capable of reducing the unnecessary exposure of an X-ray and a method thereof. The disclosed X-ray photographing apparatus includes a cylindrical X-ray generator which is cylindrically arranged and includes linear X-ray generators which are extended in parallel to the longitudinal direction of a cylinder and are arranged around the cylinder, a linear X-ray detector which is located in the cylindrical X-ray generator, and a rotation driving device which rotates the linear X-ray detector along the inner circumference of the cylindrical X-ray generator.
