PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical type louver device capable of manufacturing a steel plate product having an excellent surface quality, by sufficiently restraining the occurrence of a flaw in a surface of a traveling steel plate.SOLUTION: A vertical type louver device 10 comprises: a plurality of lower rolls 42 rotatably supported by a first support part 32; a plurality of upper rolls 44 oppositely provided to the plurality of lower rolls 42 and rotatably supported by a second support part 30; and a guide rail 36 for guiding the movement in a vertical direction of the first support part 32 or the second support part 30. A steel plate 14 travels so as to alternately contact with the upper rolls 44 and the lower rolls 42. The vertical type louver device 10 comprises: measurement parts 40 and 46 for measuring tension of the steel plate 14; and a tension adjustment part 38 for adjusting the tension distribution in an advancing direction of the steel plate 14 based on a measured value of the measurement parts 40 and 46.
