PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely achieve quality improvement, such as achieving high hardness, high rigidity, high wear resistance and high dimensional stability.SOLUTION: A method for producing a sintered metal compact is provided which comprises: a mixing step (1) of mixing a powder metal material and a binder to obtain a mixture; an injection molding step (2) of molding the mixture obtained in the mixing step into a molding having a desired shape using a metal injection molding machine; a degreasing step (3) of degreasing the molding obtained in the injection molding step; and a sintering step (4) of sintering the molding degreased by the degreasing step to obtain a sintered metal compact. In the mixing step, 0.1-10 wt.% of a magnesium oxide powder having an average particle size &phgr;w of 10-300 nm and a maximum particle size &phgr;m of ≤350 nm is mixed with the metal material and the binder. |
