PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control device of an internal combustion engine which can quickly control an engine valve to proper opening/closing timing even if a temperature is low while avoiding the generation of noise.SOLUTION: A valve timing control device of an internal combustion engine comprises: a cam phase variable mechanism 8 which changes a cam phase CAIN within a prescribed phase range; temperature detection means 26 which detects an engine water temperature TW; and limit phase setting means 2 which sets a limit CAINLMT at one side of the phase range to a third limit phase lmt3 which is made to approximate a second limit phase side by a prescribed amount in place of a first limit phase between the first limit phase lmt1 which is one limit of the phase range and to which a cam phase at a stop of an engine is equivalent, and the second limit phase lmt2 being the other limit of the phase range when the detected engine water temperature TW is not higher than a prescribed first temperature tw1. |
