PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drainage mechanism for an intake passage, capable of inhibiting a valve element from being opened when a pressure difference between a pressure in the intake passage and an atmospheric pressure becomes smaller. ! SOLUTION: A drainage mechanism includes: a drain passage 11 connected at one end to an intake passage 10 of an internal combustion engine and released at the other end to the atmosphere; and a valve element 20 to be turned around a valve stem 21 in the drain passage 11 to open/close the drain passage 11. Out of two pressure receiving surfaces of the valve element 20 across the valve stem 21, the pressure receiving surface having a larger projection area with respect to a flow path direction of the drain passage 11 is turned toward a region in which a pressure is lower during the operation of the engine, out of regions of the drain passage 11 at the side of the intake passage 10 and at the released-to-the-atmosphere side, to close the valve element 20. !
