PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which: when edge emphasis processing is performed, unnatural trimming may occur, whereas when the edge emphasis processing is performed with the edge emphasis amount to the extent that the trouble including unnatural trimming does not occur, an image remains insufficiently emphasized.SOLUTION: An image processing method includes determining the accumulated whiteness on the periphery of a target pixel to which edge emphasis is performed, adjusting the edge emphasis amount so that the degree of the edge emphasis is decreased as the accumulated whiteness increases and the degree of the edge emphasis is increased as the accumulated whiteness decreases, and performing edge emphasis processing. Whiteness is a value indicating the degree of closeness of a pixel to white, and the accumulated whiteness indicates the degree of whitishness on the periphery of the target pixel. |
