PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of suppressing the change in display luminance due to overlapping display of a prescribed object so as not to suppress the change in display luminance due to image change of an original image.SOLUTION: A display device includes: light emission means which has a plurality of light sources; display means which displays an image on a screen by modulating light from the light emission means; determination means which determines the target luminance in accordance with the brightness of an image to be displayed in a region on an image corresponding to the light source for each of the plurality of light sources; first detection means which detects an object block; second detection means which detects a quasi-quiescent block; correction means which corrects the target luminance of the light source corresponding to a quasi-quiescent object block which is a region detected by the first detection means as the object block and detected by the second detection means as the quasi-quiescent block on the basis of the target luminance of the light source in the periphery; and control means which controls the light emission luminance of each light source to the target luminance.
