PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication device which less burdens a user and has higher security. ! SOLUTION: The authentication device includes: division means which randomly divides user authentication information which is related to a user ID identifying a user and comprises a character string preliminarily recorded in the authentication device, into a plurality of character strings each of which includes one or more characters; input request means which requests input of each of the plurality of divided character string from the user, per divided character string; and authentication means which authenticates the user by comparing, in respect to each of the plurality of character strings inputted by the user per character string, the character strings inputted by the user with the divided character strings the input of which from the user is requested.
