The present disclosure relates to an apparatus and a method for charging a battery in an electronic device. The method for charging a battery of a charging device comprises the steps of: converting the charge power into charge power having a second level before the charge power is provided to a charging circuit, when the charge power having a first level is supplied from a charger; and providing the converted charge power having the second level to the charging circuit, wherein the charge power is converted such that the first level of the charge power is greater than the second level.
