PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frozen mold for casting which can provide a more fine-grained texture as a design surface than that of a mold formed with silica sand and does not require finishing of the design surface of the casting.SOLUTION: A frozen mold for casting performs casting while securing the strength of the mold composed of an upper die 12 and a lower die 11 upon casting by freezing moisture infiltrated into casting sand 18. Therein, a shirasu layer 17 comprising shirasu and/or shirasu balloon made of volcanic ash which infiltrates moisture within a prescribed thickness range is formed around a prototype 13 of the mold, and the casting sand 18 infiltrating moisture or moisture to which inorganic sol is added is arranged around the shirasu layer 17. |
