PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding die, a manufacturing apparatus, a manufacturing method and a preform for a brake pad friction material, which optimize the physical properties of the friction material provided in both end portions of a brake pad, and to provide the brake pad.SOLUTION: A molding die for a friction material for a brake pad: includes a molding die member for covering a molding die frame into which a powder material of the friction material for the brake pad is poured; and has a pressing surface forming an area to abut against the powder material poured into the molding die frame, in surfaces of the molding die member, the pressing surface being gradually recessed toward the center part side from both the end part sides thereof.
