Endless-track vehicles.-A power shovel for use in mines &c. comprises a base frame 1 with endless tracks 2 and a turntable 5 adapted for rotation around a pivot 3 and carrying the shovel mechanism. The turntable carries a motor 6 which drives a transverse shaft 97, rearwardly mounted on the turntable, through gearing 103, 102, 99, 98; the shaft 97 carries at each end an internal gear 95 from which an adjacent internal gear 106 may be driven through planetary gears 107 carried by a spider 104 controlled by a brake band 109. Each internal gear 106 is provided with a brake band 112 and is secured to a hollow shaft 105. Gears 113, Figs. 6 and 8, are keyed to the hollow shafts 105 and are in mesh with gears 118 carried by counterbalanced levers 117 pivoted on the shafts 105 and normally locked by pins 121 with the gears 118 in elevated position. When the machine is to be transported, the turntable is moved to mid position, the pins 121 are removed and the gears 118 moved into mesh with gears 116 from which the endless tracks 2 are driven through chaain gearing 115. The gears 118 are held in engagement with the gears 116 by means of arcuate pivoted members 122 which are moved into engagement with a grooved part 124 of the base frame and locked by pins 125.
