<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical wavelength multiplexing and demultiplexing circuit composed of a Mach-Zehnder interference circuit and an array waveguide diffraction grating, having highly smooth transmission band, allowing a wide transmission band and suppressing an increase in loss.SOLUTION: A optical wavelength multiplexing and demultiplexing circuit comprises: a first input/output waveguide 105; a Mach-Zehnder interference circuit including a first arm waveguide 107 and a second arm waveguide 108 having a predetermined optical path length difference, and a subsequent stage optical coupler 109; an array waveguide diffraction grating including a first slab waveguide 101 connected to the subsequent stage optical coupler 109, and an array waveguide 102 and a second slab waveguide 103 composed of a waveguide having a predetermined optical path length difference, and having a channel spacing equal to a transmission peak period of the Mach-Zehnder interference circuit; and at least two or more second input/output waveguides 104 connected to the second slab waveguide 103. A connection part 110 connecting the second slab waveguide 103 and the second input/output waveguides 104 has a shape for exciting second or more order mode.</p> |
