<p>Method for providing a rail joint of two adjacent rail portions (1, 2), wherein an electrically insulating element (18) is positioned between end faces of said rail portions (1, 2), comprising the steps of: - connecting the rail portions (1, 2) to each other with fish plates (7, 8) mounted on opposing sides of the rail portions (1, 2); - providing a gap (14) of a predetermined width between said adjacent rail portions (1, 2); - inserting the electrically insulating element (18) in the gap (14) between the end faces of said rail portions (1, 2); - reducing the width of the gap (14) so as to provide a compressive force on the electrically insulating element (18), - heating the fish plates (7, 8) mounted on the rail portions (1, 2) to provide the predetermined width to the gap (14) between the rail portions (1, 2) so as to enable complete insertion of the electrically insulating element (18) in said gap (14).</p> |
