PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for enabling terminals connected to different kinds of networks to mutually confirm presence between the terminals.SOLUTION: In a presence service method, a SIP terminal 2 transmits notification presence information and a presence acquisition request to a presence server 1 by a SIP message, and receives distribution presence information from the presence server 1 by a SIP message. A mail terminal 3 transmits notification presence information and a presence acquisition request to the presence server 1 by an e-mail, and receives distribution presence information from the presence server 1 by an e-mail. The presence server 1 updates presence of a presence notification source in accordance with the notification presence information received by the SIP message or the e-mail, generates the distribution presence information in accordance with the presence acquisition request received by the SIP message or the e-mail, and transmits the distribution presence information to a presence acquisition request source by the SIP message when the request source is the SIP terminal 2 or by the e-mail when the request source is the mail terminal 3. |
