PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device and an image forming apparatus in which toner not constituting a toner image is prevented from depositing on a carrying member and further foreign matters such as toner which are ejected from a scraping member to the carrying member to deposit on a rear surface of a recording medium can be reduced.SOLUTION: Application of a non-transfer voltage to a driven roll 44 suppresses deposition on a carrying belt 40 of toner not constituting a toner image. When the carrying belt 40 is switched from a separation position to a contact position, a control unit 20 reduces the non-transfer voltage before arrival at a transfer part T of the first sheet member P, in comparison with the non-transfer voltage after passage in the transfer part T of the first sheet member P. Therefore, foreign matters held on a brush roll 80 and charged are prevented from bursting to the carrying belt 40, so that the toner not constituting the toner image is prevented from depositing on the carrying member and further the foreign matters which deposit on the rear surface of the sheet member P carried by the carrying belt 40 are reduced. |
